Google unveils the Pixel 9a, powered by the Tensor G4 chip

Discover the release date, price ($499), new Tensor G4 chip, upgraded camera, and sleek design of Google's budget-friendly Pixel.
Google has officially announced the Pixel 9a, the most affordable option in the new Pixel 9 lineup! It's hitting stores in April with a starting price of $499, or INR 49,999 in India.
The Pixel 9a shares the sleek, modern design of the other Pixel 9 phones. It's got a smooth, tough Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen that blends seamlessly with a flat, aluminum frame. The back is a flat, durable polycarbonate, giving it a clean, streamlined look. This is a big change from last year's Pixel 8a, which had more rounded edges. Plus, you don't have to worry about splashes or dust – the Pixel 9a is now officially dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating.

The Pixel 9a boasts a gorgeous, slightly bigger 6.3-inch display that's super smooth thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. Colors pop, and it gets incredibly bright – bright enough to see clearly even in direct sunlight. It even supports HDR for richer, more vibrant video. Plus, unlocking is a breeze with the built-in fingerprint sensor.

Inside, Google's new Tensor G4 chip makes everything fast and fluid, while the Titan M2 security chip keeps your data safe. You can choose between 128GB or 256GB of storage, and it comes standard with 8GB of memory to handle all your apps and multitasking.

The camera got a major upgrade! The main lens is now a 48MP powerhouse that takes stunningly detailed photos and videos, even in low light. It also shoots 4K video at a smooth 60 frames per second. The ultra-wide lens is still there, perfect for capturing those group shots or wide landscapes. And for selfies, you get a reliable 13MP front camera that can record 4K video.

The Pixel 9a comes with the latest Android 15, packed with all of Google's helpful AI tricks. And because Google loves keeping your phone up to date, you'll get seven years of OS and security updates, ensuring your phone stays secure and running smoothly for years to come.

Finally, you can pick up the Pixel 9a in stylish colors like Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white-ish), Iris (purple-ish blue), and Peony (pink-ish). Just keep in mind that not all colors may be available in your area.
